Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader, and her family compete to win Fan of the Year, judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick. The movie was filmed in the historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which is actually what it looks like year-round. The locations of the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s barbecue restaurant are also real family stores.
But I’m sorry, that was a load of crap
The square also features holiday lights, just like in the movie. Well… I’m a Chiefs fan; I’m a Hunter King fan; and I’m a Tyler Hines fan. I wish I could stop there, but I have to elaborate.
They really forced it
If you’re not a Chiefs fan, I don’t know how you can watch this movie. I didn’t think the chemistry between Hines and King was particularly strong. The writing was so-so, and the overall plot was a bit odd.
I wish I had something better to say
I liked the supporting cast, and Ed Begley Jr. did a pretty good job as a grumpy old man. The scene in the Hallmark movie where the whole family gets drunk on eggnog was interesting.
