The script is great, well directed, and the stars are all great actors

Silo is a very good science fiction series that has that rarity that most other science fiction series and movies unfortunately lack – it’s actually very clever! Some of the supporting characters and minor characters could have been better, but the casting department did a good job of it.

I for one really want to see how they tie it all together when he returns!

I can understand why some of the other reviews say the show starts off great but then drags too, lots of “side adventure” issues that have nothing to do with the main story and are not resolved, but I’m actually OK with that. I’m sure the show will come back and that they plan to continue and resolve the various storylines.

She lives in a squat with her dad "Bug" (Barry Keoghan), her brother "Hunter" (Jason Buda) and her soon-to-be stepmother "Kayleigh" (Frankie Box)

(Nykia Adams). It is her impending wedding and wearing a pretty pink cat suit that puts her at odds with her well-meaning dad and leaves her partying in the middle of the Kent fields.

There she meets the rather enigmatic "Bird" (Franz Rogowski) who is searching for her parents who lived in the Gravesend building near her house

She decides to try to help this rather unusual guy and their lives soon become strangely intertwined as we discover that her mother (Jasmine Jobson) is struggling with an abusive relationship with boyfriend "Skate" (James Nelson-Joyce) while also trying to raise three youngsters. With the search for her new friend’s parents, her desire to help her mum and siblings and her dad’s pressure to get involved in her own hopes for happiness, young "Bailey" is not without her own challenges to search for.

It burns slowly, but it works

Keoghan appears energetic as he races through the housing estates on his e-scooter, and his character serves well as a helping hand in keeping the main characters going – and it is on this front that there is a charmingly understated chemistry that develops between Adams and Rogowski who mixes their backstories with a soupçon of mysticism and a wealth of allegorical imagery to introduce rather elusive themes of freedom, family and, not infrequently, fun. There are some pretty violent undertones, and there’s no doubt that her life and that of her family have been and will remain quite turbulent – but these points are not brought to us with a sledgehammer, but rather through gentle observation and the development of engaging personalities that unfold slowly but powerfully over the course of a few hours.
